Deplorable

My heart aches when it thinks of you.
You fill my life with all the good things.
Then why can't I say a word,
Why can't I do what I need to do?

I find joy and solace when I'm with you,
Nothing else matters,
Time stops,
The world melts away...

You know, don't you?
I hope you do
For if you do not, you'll never know.
All of me dares never to speak its name.

And I can't say a word.
I am mute
My body is compelled to silence.
Not a word can ever be spoken.

Oh life! What must be done can never be done,
The question that must be asked can never be asked,
The word spoken, that deplorable word, that four letter word.
Not a single thought of it could ever be uttered.

For if it ever received breath, worlds would be swallowed up
The cosmos would vanish,
Life would be snuffed out,
And the end would come.

  1. All my feels. =/ The ending reminds me of the opening lines of Tao/Dao te ching- in short:
    if it can be called the way, it is not the way;
if the name can be named, it is not the name.

That the naming should destroy the named, should alter it beyond recognition... I suppose one must learn to know without naming. To be satisfied in your own knowledge that "it" is ___. To acknowledge that which defies recognition.
In the case of multiple souls it sounds impossibly difficult and effortlessly simple at the same time.
