Deplorable

My heart aches when it thinks of you.
You fill my life with all the good things.
Then why can't I say a word,
Why can't I do what I need to do?

I find joy and solace when I'm with you,
Nothing else matters,
Time stops,
The world melts away...

You know, don't you?
I hope you do
For if you do not, you'll never know.
All of me dares never to speak its name.

And I can't say a word.
I am mute
My body is compelled to silence.
Not a word can ever be spoken.

Oh life! What must be done can never be done,
The question that must be asked can never be asked,
The word spoken, that deplorable word, that four letter word.
Not a single thought of it could ever be uttered.

For if it ever received breath, worlds would be swallowed up
The cosmos would vanish,
Life would be snuffed out,
And the end would come.

Goodbye

The rain outside comes from my heart,
The water falling is the tears from my eyes...

You never knew how much I always wanted to say "Yes"
But we never met in the right order--
Timelines out of whack--
I was always five minutes late, five minutes early,
Never matching up...

Maybe in another life
Another world
Another time
It would be different.
But it's not.

And we must now follow the paths laid out for us.

For now, goodbye.

Perhaps life will find us together again someday.

Benediction on gardening

Rejoice, my friends! At the table, you belong.
Come sit and feast with the glad and happy throng.
Give thanks for all and the work of every hand
And fill your plate with the bounty of your land!

Joe

Joe is young.

Joe
f

s
in love the sound of a million roaring oceans.

He says, Though the seas dry up and the stars burn out,
my love for you will never die.

Joe grows older. Joe works in a box. Joe loves his lover even more.

Joe
f
a
l
l
s
in love to the sound of a million roaring cars.

He says, Though lost in this madness of windowless eyes,
my love for you will never grow dim.

Joe is close to death.

He cannot move.

He is inept.

He is mad.

His lover is gone.

He has none other.

He is alone.

His love has gone.

But Love will not leave him alone.

Love
f

into Joe from heaven above...

And Joe
f
a
l
l
s
in Love as never before,
f
a
l
l
s
in love to the sound of a million roaring lions.
He finds what has always been just around the corner. What he has always had in part, he now finds in Full.
For Love has found him.
And he loves.
And he Loves.
And Love will not let him go.

"How shall we escape?" etc.

Living in dire times we
Walk the wire between the fire
And the axe

Poised
At our necks.
Poison

Eats us alive.
"Their foot shall slide," etc.
Great is their misery,

"For hate is strong," etc.
When we fall,
Where will we land?

Emerging Carcass

Broken
Fallen
Broken is the golden tint
Emerging is the rottenness within
Fallen are the lies
Broken is the shell
Emerging is the carcass
Fallen-broken is the cane, trampled-on
Fallen-broken is the lie
Fallenbroken is the man who holds the knife.

The world no longer revolves around you
Fallen is the old man
Broken fall the flames
No Trespassing
Leave the world alone
Leave the worlds alone
You have your own.

A Road

A wall
which
pretends
to destroy
all walls.
